Shelia Brown, a true West Virginian, was a Deaf Educator in the Preston County School system for 35 years prior to retiring. But 25 years ago she attended a workshop on basketweaving that both caught her interest and ignited her creativity.

Shelia is a Tamarack juried artist and has been pursuing her art commercially since 2007. She currently creates over 350 different kinds of baskets, both traditional and contemporary.You can learn more about her at
